[An island! This is most certainly not where everyone was just a few moments ago. ...Alright, maybe some of you were on an island. Don't get cheeky.

At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

[What are these cute little balls at his feet? Are they presents? Does he get to keep one? ...He's going to keep one.

This tiny child (even younger than most of you trainer kids) does not look particularly distressed by the whole "suddenly we're on an island" deal. He's more interested in these mysterious little spheres of unknown origin and function...]

[You know, it's really hard to pick when he doesn't know what does what. So have Red, staring at the three pokeballs, with his pokedex out. Sadly, since it's Gen I, he has no idea what any of these pokemon are, just that they look like his little buddy that's chilling on his shoulder.

So how does he pick between three new electric rodents? That is, Pachirisu, Emolga, and Dedenne.

Hmm... Care to help him out?]

{ Alright choices choices....There's a Litleo, Honedge, or small size Pumpkaboo. Let's just check the Pokedex and...Error? What do you mean there's an Error?! Oak updated it for me the last time I was here to Unova standards.

Red will attempt to reach out for one, before pulling back his hand. Man this is tough. Pikachu will hop onto his shoulder, and idly wag his tail in anticipation of what will get taken.}

[Well, she has no clue what two of these are. The third's a Duskull, which she can surely get back home (whenever she got home, because this looked nothing like any part of Hoenn she's seen).

... Which means her choices are narrowed down to a Deino and a Flabébé. Decisions, decisions, decisions...]

[There is someone trying his best to look inconspicuous over here, wrapping up in his coat and pressing his fedora harder against his head. Free Pokemon is nice, but he's a little busy attempting to hide.

...But first he'll snatch this Sandile before he goes. Now it's time to blast off again-]

[Bob here doesn't know what to think when he's presented with a wonderful option of Caterpie, Weedle and Burmy.

You know, aside from grabbing (or trying to) all three Pokéballs at once.]

Go free! Go free my friends! I won't let any Pokéball confine any of you-!

[...too bad for Bob only the balls with Weedle and Burmy vanishes, leaving him with just a happy Caterpie that's currently crawling up his leg.]

Gah! No, you're supposed to go the other way! The other way!

[Three minutes and seventeen (eighteen, nineteen, twenty) seconds ago, he had knelt down in the shadow of the famous Elm Pokémon Lab, picked up a brick, and used it to smash in an unguarded window.

But when he had pushed himself through the sill, ignoring the broken glass, he had found himself outside again-- with three Pokéballs at his feet.]

["Please choose one."]

... I don't have time for this. [And yet, he can't seem to tear himself away from them. He stares at the Pokéballs, fingers twitching at his sides.]

[Honestly, she hadn't recognized any of the options that'd been provided to her but... hey, free Pokémon. She's not going to complain.

She grabbed one at random from the options (Ralts, Pumpkaboo, Larvesta) and ended up with a Larvesta. So now she's kind of crouched down, poking at the little critter and studying it. Whatever this mystery bug-type is, it's certainly cute! At least she thinks it's a Bug-type.]

[While Blue has no idea where he's even at, he's not really complaining at the treasure that's in front of him.]

Heh, of course they'd offer me something for bringing me here. I'd be pretty upset if they didn't.

[How he got here, and when isn't even a question. At least he'll get a cool started out of it! ... Right.]

Let's check this first one.

[YEAH POWERFUL POKEMON TIME. TIME TO CHECK THE BALL AND... magikarp.]

Wait, what?

[The second one... also a magikarp.]

Wow, this went from kinda awesome to terrible. Who plays a prank like this? Oh well. At least there's one left, let's crack this baby open.

[Who's that Pokemon? Guess. It's another magikarp.]

... Forget this, I'm leaving. I'm taking the first boat back to Kalos so I can at least have the chance to see something new.

[Stop him and make him take a Pokemon? Or laugh? ~~Please laugh.~~]

[Free Pokémon? Sweet, count him in. Which one to choose... maybe he should check them all out and try to pick the strongest looking one...

Nah. Instead, he grabs the first Pokéball and releases the Pokémon. Out pops a Froakie who immediately chirps its name happily.]

Whoa, never seen one of these before.

[Archie crouches down to examine the Pokémon closer. Finally, he stands up and turns to ask a question.]

Hey, anyone know what this Pokémon is? It's obviously not from Hoenn.

[Clair - a Clair, that is - is looking down at the spinarak that is trying to climb her like she's some jungle gym. She shakes it off her with a small frown, ignoring the pokemon's dismayed sounds.] I suppose you'll do.

[In all seriousness though, she is somewhat nonplussed by all this but happy she still has her prized dragons with her.

A glance at the spinrak before he starts to wonder around, looking for a) people she knows or b) someone who knows what is going on and or c) a way home. She was in the middle of something, thank you very much!]

[Silver very much on accident opened up one of the Pokéballs- and the other two Pokémon disappeared rather quickly. He's now holding a Charmander in one of his arms- the Charmander seems pretty happy to have a trainer and hugs onto him!

Of course, he can't see it, nor is it his Pokémon. So he moves his cuestick in front of a person nearby. Never behind them or at them- in front of them.]

Excuse me.

[ Let's see here... Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip. The Starter Pokémon Dilemma every protagonist in the history of pokémonkind has faced is back for the third time in Serena's life and she thought that maybe this time it would be easier to choose. She was wrong and has been trying to make a decision for the past ten minutes while the Chesnaught next to her is starting to doze off from boredom. ]

Maybe I should go with Water this time? Torchic's cute, though...

[Adding to the throng of protags is this rather short twenty year old.]

Cooool! I get an absol! [Fumiko, sweetie, only you would think getting the so called disaster pokemon was a cool thing.] But you need a name and - are you a boy or a girl?

[..... The Absol just looks insulted. Then again, this trainer thought her charmander was a male until proven otherwise, soooooo...

The poor thing will get mistaken for a male as Fumiko tries to gender it.] I believe you're a male so.. Your name will be Kutabe.

Let's go explore. Perhaps we'll find someone who knows where we are.

Sol! [Kutabe would like that - mostly because it means someone will tell her trainer she is a female, not male absol.]

[Splitting up our throng of protags is a rival.

Well. Technically she is. Kalos-born and raised after all! Serena's already chosen hers - a Makuhita - and she's more focused on figuring out why she's not in Kiloude City anymore. At least she still has her belongings and her Absol's still got its Absolite...

She ends up wandering in the direction of the plains and stands, somewhat bemused, in front of a hut. Is... this where they were expected to stay...?]

It's a little small, isn't it. [Ah, yes. Her Greninja must agree. Very small. Very cozy.]

Gold's first reaction is "shit". The place looks different, but he's got this gut feeling. He knows this place. He absolutely knows this place. His gut is telling him he knows this place.

Of course, that concern is replaced by a more pressing one, as he takes notice of the three Pokéballs at his feet. Within them are a , a and a .]

[Is he supposed to take one of them? All of them? Are they someone else's? WHAT DO???]

Whoa. Waitamin—is this where I think it—?

[ohmanohmanOHMAN. IT TOTALLY IS.

WE'RE BACK.]

Ha ha, wow! I can't believe it's—WOW! Hey, Green, Dawn, Archie, everybody, are you guys still—?

[...Hey now what's this. Free pokémon? Free pokémon. Sweet.]

Oh, boy. How am I supposed to pick?

[It takes him a minute to register that he's not in the same place anymore. Longer than a minute, actually.

This Red is young, eleven at the most. He's sitting cross-legged on the ground, dark eyes unfocused and staring dead straight ahead. He appears to be completely unaware of anything happening in the world around him. He's clutching something in one hand so tightly that it's starting to cut into his palm and drip blood onto his jeans—but his jeans are filthy and caked in dried blood already, along with the rest of his clothes. He's got bruises on his arms and face and looks like he hasn't eaten in some time.

When he does take notice of the island, and the pokéballs in front of him, it's with the dull surprise of someone seeing the world through a wall of water. He blinks, stares at the objects before him for a good thirty seconds, then simply shakes his head in total incomprehension. Could this be...another trick? He really ought to investigate. But he's so tired. And his pokémon would still be...]

I...what's going on? I don't understand.

[Still, unguarded pokémon is unguarded pokémon. The admin will reach out and grab the first pokéball, which contains a Murkrow.

Before Ariana can grab the other two, they disappear in a puff of smoke.]

Shoot! Who's there? ...I'm warning you not to mess with me!

[Lucas definitely looks surprised once he realizes where he was. Wow, how long has it been since he last stayed here? Months? Maybe months. The timeflow never seemed to be fixed around this island.

But anyway, today Lucas has a problem! And he's just sitting there looking at the three Pokeballs set right in front of him.]

Just pick one, huh?

[He couldn't decide! One is a Gible, and the others are Pokemon he hadn't seen before!]

Wow, I've never seen these kinds of Pokemon before!

[Red will just look at all three Pokeballs in his hand before settling them on the ground and grabbing his 'dex.

He frowns a bit once he looks at the device on the hand, probably not expecting the results it gave him.]

Eh? Weird, it doesn't register their data...

[Blue at first didn't recognize where he was, ~~and got distracted because not!rival~~ and ended up with a all too shy Trubbish, constantly hiding behind his legs at the moment.

Well, it wasn't a bad pick considering his other two options had been a golden Magikarp, and an Unown. He's currently trying to get acquainted with his new pokémon before sighing and glancing down at Tubby, the trubbish.]

...are you going to keep hiding behind me?

[This is Gible.

This is Gible staring at the three Pokeballs in front of him, with the look of hunger in its eyes.

...You might want to get it away from the Pokemon before it starts to chow down on them.]

[You know, normally, he'd be running around the island, yelling some sort of nonsense and trying to figure out where he is, but right now what has his attention are the three Pokéballs he's been presented with, each holding a Pokémon he's never seen before.

... So does he choose the Piplup, the Oshawott, or the Froakie...]

[Well, this is certainly no testing facility, and Dawn's okay with that. It's still not Sinnoh though. Warm though. Her Torterra likes it well enough, and she's studying the three balls she's gotten and the note along with it.

Choose one, huh? Okay.

It takes a moment of thought, but soon there's a Chespin laying with her on Wigbi's back. Total relaxation. Slow moving relaxation. Out of the waaaay people, world tortoise coming through.]

It's nice to have real sun, right? You can definitely tell the difference. [Wigbi shakes his tree in agreement, while Buckbi (the Chespin) nods. Even though he wasn't there.]
