The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

[giant fuckoff tortoise says hi. For all Paul knows, Goggle Boy could be amazing OR a complete novice of a trainer, so optimally he'll use his best to either give Gold an appropriate battle...or shamelessly smash him into the dirt.]

Heh, guess we're makin' the first move here, Explotaro! Eruption!

[And here comes a full-power fire attack of doom heading straight for Torterra.]

[HURTS. BURNING HURTS. But Paul doesn't look too worried!]

Stone Edge; let's go.

[Explotaro can look forward to a seemingly neverending barrage of THOUSANDS OF ROCKY SHRAPNEL]

[Gold doesn't look the slightest bit bothered by Paul's move. In fact, it's almost as if he expected it.

Looks like you don't change... Explotaro, burst right through it! Flare Blitz! [Explotaro wraps itself in flames and charges right towards Torterra with immense speed, like a furious rampaging fiery bull of fire and doom.]

[Yup, he'll let Torterra sustain that hit, too! Paul's no stranger to that Flare Blitz move, either. But now that Explotaro is nice and close...]

Giga Drain!

[Watch out Explotaro, a bunch of green energy-draining beams are going to wrap around and trap you into feeding your opponent some HP back while you're dealing with that recoil!]

[Gold proceeds to pull his goggles down over his eyes, as a grin spreads on his face.

You've walked right into his trap, Paul.]

Explotaro, Blast Burn!

[Those vines of yours will be your downfall, as the intense flames of Blast Burn spread from Explotaro along them and straight towards Torterra. As a bonus, the intensity of the flames is increased due to the proximity of Torterra to Explotaro, as they're more concentrated at close range.]

[Which means Torterra will be visibly showing scorch marks from that little clash! He's not quite done in yet, but he's getting close to the red. Paul looks more disappointed than anything else, but seeing as Torterra still has a bit left in the tank and Explotaro is rendered immobile AND in point blank range, now's a good a time as any to use the best move in the arsenal against this dude.]

Earthquake!
