Welcome/Welcome back, you crazy diamonds!

[An island! This is most certainly not where everyone was just a few moments ago. ...Alright, maybe some of you were on an island. Don't get cheeky.

At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

I can't say I do. It's certainly... interesting.

[This is as close as Terra's ever going to get to calling a Water-type cute. She wanders over with a Sandile trailing after her rather like a puppy, with a Pokeball threaded on a vine around its neck.]

Hello, Archie.

[And now it's time to play "see whether this is an Archie who's met her". Or whether he's just going to give her a funny look for walking around in an honest-to-Arceus toga.]

[Archie turns to look at her, quirking an eyebrow. She looks vaguely familiar, like someone he's met before, but he can't place her right away.]

Have we met? I'm afraid I don't remember.

Ah, I see. I'm sorry, I must have mistaken you for one of your alternates.

[It's easy enough to see he's not one of the really bad ones, at least. Or if he is, he's a lot better at hiding it than most of them. So she smiles and brushes her hair back.]

Call me Terra.

[personal profile] torrential 2013-11-17 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully not the crazy one. I'm not that awful.

[He laughs it off though, clearly not offended.]

Nice to meet you, Terra.

It's nice to meet you as well, Archie. I think I managed to miss meeting the crazy edition, thankfully.

[She grimaces a little; she didn't have the same luck with Maxie. Still, she turns it into a smile again fairly quickly - not only is this one not crazy, he honestly seems fairly nice.]

I wouldn't have expected you to be that sort, anyway. They seem to be rather... obvious, most of the time.

[personal profile] torrential 2013-11-17 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't had the misfortune of running into him either, thankfully.

[Though unlike Terra, he's practically bffs with the crazy Maxie. Not that he'd ever admit it because that's admitting to liking a Maxie and that's clearly not possible.]

[Crazy Maxie is too close to crazy Groudon for comfort, as far as Terra's concerned. The abuse the man went through at his Groudon's hands, and the reverence he still holds for it, unsettle her.]

At any rate, you're taking this well. I assume this isn't your first time on the Island?
torrential: (♒ 10)

[personal profile] torrential 2013-11-17 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I've been on the island for a while. Or well, I guess I was; it feels like it's been a long time since I was last here.

[He looks a little lost for a moment before shrugging it off. Gaping holes in his memory really aren't anything to worry about anymore!]
terra_et_sol: (Human//Excuse Me?)

[personal profile] terra_et_sol 2013-11-17 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, it does, doesn't it?

[Terra doesn't worry much about long gaps, either. Though she just tends to assume she hibernated through them.

She leans down to examine the Froakie a little more closely.]

It does look a bit strange. Perhaps it's related to a Mudkip? It's obviously some sort of amphibian.

[The Froakie croaks happily, clearly pleased that someone's paying attention to it. Archie tips his head a bit in thought.]

Yeah, could be. It definitely looks like a Water-type, but I don't know what exactly it is or where it's from. It'll be interesting to see what it evolves into, if it does evolve!

[personal profile] terra_et_sol 2013-11-17 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
As small as it is, I'd be a bit surprised if it didn't. But I've been surprised before.

[The Sandile following Terra wanders up next to her to size the Froakie up for itself - from a safe distance. After a moment it chirps* the Sandile equivalent of "you've got potential, kid", which makes Terra raise an eyebrow.]

((OOC: *Yes, crocodiles do chirp in real life, at least young ones do. Crocodiles are noisy suckers.))

[personal profile] torrential 2013-11-17 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought Mawile would evolve into something bigger, but apparently not!

[Archie glances down at the Pokémon, trying to keep from smiling at them. They're kind of cute, alright.

Froakie certainly seems pleased with Sandile's words, puffing up his little chest and managing to swagger-hop around.]
terra_et_sol: (Human//Smirk)

[personal profile] terra_et_sol 2013-11-17 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. There's always a few like those. Mawile, Sableye, Dunsparce. I've seen Mawile and Sableye live in caves where Aggron lair.

[Sandile's just sensing the potential for a Dark-type there, really. It just smirks as well as you can smirk with a mouth that takes up two-thirds of your face, swishing its tail across the ground.]

I guess they can take care of themselves, then! I've never tried training any of 'em, so I wouldn't know.

I've really only seen them. I'm interested in Ground-types, mostly. A specialist, you might say.
