[An island! This is most certainly not where everyone was just a few moments ago. ...Alright, maybe some of you were on an island. Don't get cheeky.

At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

[He's legit excited. The last time he saw a Totodile was looking in at his reflection in the water!

His excitement is just also a convenient excuse.]

They're the only ones we see. [So hard to handle, aren't you.] If you're having such a difficult time choosing, why don't you let out your other Pokémon and have them help you? Unless you just plain don't like anyone giving you good, solid advice.

[He doesn't have any?

Ethan's eyebrows knit together, not sure if he should laugh or offer his condolences.

Being obnoxiously thirteen, the answer is obvious.]

[Silver clenches his jaw and says nothing for a long moment, as he wrestles with his temper. This idiot doesn't know anything. And that's--

... fine. It's perfectly fine. Silver doesn't want him to know anything either.]

[And then his expression flattens, as he swallows his anger.]

This one will be my first.

[tidaldrum]

[Ethan's jerk grin lessens again, and he regards Silver curiously.]

You don't have a Crobat or anything like that?

[savedover]

I said, this will be my first one. Are you deaf, or just an idiot? I've never had a Crobat.

[tidaldrum]

You had one the last time we met. [Huff. He says it like Silver's an idiot, or something. Another huff.]

This is the first time that we've met. I don't know who you are. [It's an easy lie-- one that he's said hundreds of times.]

[tidaldrum]

[he doesn't know who he is--?

ethan sure as hell knows he didn't dream about silver. this silver. obsessed with time and being a total ass to anyone who looked like some "gold" kid.]

The name's Ethan. Don't forget it this time. [harrumph.] Are you going to choose a Pokémon, or are you scared I'll judge your dumb choice?

How am I supposed to remember something I never knew in the first place? [Thankfully, he's already grumpy about having to deal with Ethan in the first place; it's easily to fake being grumpy about this argument over Ethan being "forgotten".] Your opinion is completely worthless; I couldn't care less about it.

But which one I pick is none of your business.

[tidaldrum]

[and he really thought he'd seen the pinnacle of jerkness. evidently they've barely scratched the surface.]

I don't care which one you pick. [Ferafera does--] And I think your opinion about my opinion being worthless is worthless.

[Alas, Ethan has just reached the "above sea level" of jerkiness.]

If you don't care, then go away. [Super unimpressed. Can't you come up with your own insults, Ethan?] I don't care what you think.

If you don't care, then just pick one instead of Skitty-footing around.

[It's not like he's given up on impressing Silver, but there are more important things to do! Like participating in the never-ending circle of stupid they've got going on!]

No. [Silver stubbornly folds his arms.] I'm not going to choose one until you leave.

[tidaldrum]

And I'm not leaving until you choose one.

[Because his Feraligatr's interested.]

Oh, really. [Silver folds his arms and smirks.] And how long are you prepared to wait?

[He can out-wait you.]

[tidaldrum]

[Look at how totally not interested he is in your Totodile choice.]

Alright, then. [Silver reaches out to adjust a chair that the Island has conveniently provided. He sits down and folds his arms and legs.] Prove it.

[Guess what, Ethan. Silver is prepared to wait. For hours on end.]

[tidaldrum]

[You've got to be kidding him.

Ethan's just going to take the floor, thanks. The floor's so nice. Much better than a chair. Who do you think you are, the greatest Pokémon trainer ever? Because that'd be him. (And Red.)

So fine. He'll wait. Even if, a mere ten minutes later, his fingers start tapping impatiently.

The Silver he's more familiar with - the one in his Johto - isn't someone willing to wait for long; he's only starting to get patient, and only with Pokémon. But, alas, this isn't the Silver he's most familiar with. Alas.]

[Silver might consider himself an awful Trainer, but he knows-- he knows-- that he's more patient than Ethan. He's not the same person he was when he first stood in front of Professor Elm's Lab. After all, one of the first things that he learned was that it is always better to be hours early instead of fifteen minutes late.

As they sit, he shows no signs of impatience. After all, it's only been ten minutes. He's in absolutely no hurry.

(By the by, his camp chair is pretty comfortable as far as portable furniture goes. It even has a cup-holder for a drink! ... not that he has one. It's just nice to have.)]

[Fancy, aren't we.

Ethan flips open his Pokégear to study the time, lip curling when he reads it. And the tapping turns to fiddling with the Gear -- he even tries to put on some music but, failing to find any of his favorite radio channels (two and a half minutes of searching), he closes it.

And the finger tapping starts again.

His crocogator (allidile?) hesitantly lays down too; he's just curling around his trainer, putting his head into Ethan's lap. It's warm. Nice. Petting his Feraligatr gives him something to do. Maybe he can last longer than fifteen minutes.

Well. Not in silence.]

Are you seriously going to wait?

[Silver waits, quietly, mentally going over what he needs to remember. Later, he'll find a notebook and write it all down. But he can't do that with Ethan in the way.]

Until you lose interest and go away, yes. [Looking down at Ethan and FeraFera he feels a pang of envy. The two of them obviously have a close bond.] I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes.

[tidaldrum]

If you don't care about my opinion, then why don't you want me to see which one you pick?

[It's one of the few things he's honestly curious about. Ferafera lifts his chin so Ethan can rub the scales under it, humming appreciatively at the attention.]
