NEW YEAR'S FESTIVAL

If you thought you've memorized every bit of the island so far, think again! Seemingly overnight, a huge festival has appeared in the plains, complete with vendors, games, contests, and of course, huge rides to scream your lungs out. Grab your friends and have a fun start to the new year! •Bobbing for apricorns and games - Try your luck at snatching a fresh apricorn and win a pokeball version for your efforts! The water's pretty icy at this time, so you might want to find a way to warm your face afterwards. There's also ring toss, Squirtle gun range, and a strange fishing game where you only ever seem to fish out Magikarp for 500 poke a try. Win big to earn plushies and masks of your favorite Pokemon! •Haunted house - It's a place brimming with Gastlys and Gengars eager to pop out of the walls and scare the living daylights out of you. Enter if you dare! •Ferris wheel - Take a break in the Ferris wheel and get a full view of the carnival. Also a fine place to pick up bizarre dates if you're desperate to kiss someone at midnight. •Food and fortune - Cotton candy, popcorn, caramel-covered berries, and everything else to get your weekly intake of salt and sugar. Stop by the vendors for a range of carnival cuisine from all the regions, then check out the Alakazam fortune teller on the way out to get your new year's fortune. Too bad his fortunes seem to read like bad fortune cookies. •Tunnel of Luvdisc - Need a private moment? Hop into a boat and cruise along the Tunnel of Luvdisc with your darling, together with the lights down low...and a river packed with energetic Luvdisc who seem eager to splash water and sometimes flip onto the boat. Just shove them back if one lands in your lap. •Gyarados roller coaster - It's the highlight of the festival! This towering coaster has all the terrifying drops and turns you want in a roller coaster, but with a tacky-looking Gyarados car as the ride. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's a ride for the younger kids, though. There's a lot more to see than what's listed here - list your own event too!

A - roller coaster
[There's one seat left next to Kanto's biggest celebrity! Yes, it is Green who is waiting for the ride to start, but not until the last seat fills up. He understands anyone who's hesitating - it is a pretty big coaster, and only cool kids like him can handle it.] Hey, you, you coming or what?


B - Tunnel of Luvdisc
[Ladies, now is your chance to have a private minute with the (former) Champion himself. He's casually hanging out in front of the Tunnel, awaiting the moment when a cute girl asks him for a ride. Yep, any minute now. Aaaany minute? Anyone?]


C - food
[Green's wandering around with a bag of caramel popcorn in one hand and berries in the other for his Eevee to munch on. It's a good time to take a break from the events and stuff his face with sugar and starch. No, he's not buying for anyone, especially you.]

[Cute girl? Ha, yeah right. Like some cute girl'd want to go in the Tunnel with a former Champion when they could just go with the current Champion. Ethan's lingering not too far away, hands in his pockets and looking totally not apprehensive.

He keeps glancing at Green though, always looking like he's about to laugh. A few snorts even make it out, even if he turns his face to make it look like he's totally not laughing at Green.

(But he totally is, no lie.)]

[He was still a Champion before you were walking!!!

The girls aren't taking the bait for some reason. He's pretty sure he brushed his teeth this morning! Looks like everyone's going for the coaster and Ferris wheel instead. Why's this punk hanging around, anyway?] What're you looking at?

[Haha, wow, you're pretty ancient then huh, no wonder no girls wanna come over!!!

Ethan's lips jerk down in the worst attempt at not grinning and he shrugs, shifting on his feet.] Just the loser having to wait for chicks to come up and ask him to go in the tunnel with them. And here I thought you'd have a girlfriend or something!

[He's really not going to buy for anyone?? Not even the cute little girl staring mournfully at a bag of cheesy popcorn balls?

Her Bulbasaur seems perfectly fine with, you know, just chilling and watching people, but Blue's hungry and it smells so so soooo good... And she doesn't have a cent to her name, figuratively or literally.]

[A cute girl who also looks like one of his best buddies? You're looking a little hungry there.]

[Oh yeah, she's super mega hungry. Blue turns towards him and stares for a second -- he's familiar, but who is he.........]

That's me! [No time for too much confusion though, or at least showing it; she practically bounces when she turns all the way around.] Uh huh, I'm Blue! Who're you?

[Hey, dude. Time to keep up the trend of being approached by absolutely no ladies. This one wanders up to the area through aimless walking, sucking on an oversized treat that he miiight have shared a few times with the pikachu on his shoulder. He's never been too keen on sweets, but really, who can resist oversized fabulous candy? Not Red.

The sight of the boat and the tunnel is intriguing once he's close enough, but then, so is the one of Green standing around which Red catches. The idea that he might be waiting for a ~special somebody~ doesn't cross his mind, and so hey, time to interrupt by walking up to him, raising onw hand up in greeting and extracting the lollipop from his mouth (that Pikachu is eyeing up) with the other.]

[Was that girl looking at him? Oh, she was just looking over his head to read the signs behind him. Well, she'll be back soon enough! Any minute now. Any-

She won't get back any sooner with this one loser blocking his view, though. Who invited him, anyway? The ride doesn't include dates with snowstorms or mountaintops.] Hey.

[Doesn't it have mountains and snow? Doesn't it? Gotta look up at that beautiful sign himself though, don't mind the fact that he just approached Green or anything, he can wait for invigorating conversation- Tunnel of Luvdisc? Sounds straightforward, and yet who knows what wonders wait inside.

Okay, eyes back on Green.]

Something wrong with the ride? [And he looks over to the entrance, curious. Well, there's a person over there that looks like an attendant, maybe...]

[He is a wanted criminal and a giant festival decides to appear now? Well, for the amount of people wandering around, it's not the worst place to stay hidden. No one should pay much attention to him so long as he stays between the Ferris wheel and bumper cars.

...Though the food over there is smelling pretty good. Nothing wrong with the occasional carnival food, he supposes.]

[The food is all free!

...Silver and Sneasel are stealing food anyway. It's a pretty easy trick for someone passing by that cares to pay attention to notice- Silver ponders over what to get at one of the food vendors for a while before finally choosing something- only to realize that he doesn't have enough money and to walk away emptyhanded. While he's got the vendor guy's attention (the poor vendor guy that just wants to explain to him that he's free to have as much as he wants--), Sneasel steals a load of food from behind him.

The two of them meet up not too far in front of Giovanni and split their meal. Four Poffins and some lemonade, huh? Not bad, Sneasel.]

[That sneakery...that theft...it would have been perfect if it wasn't, you know, unnecessary. But a job well done, son! You're well on your way to becoming Bo- er, nevermind.]

[No one told him it was free. He wouldn't have wasted the time if it was free--!

But that doesn't matter. Sharing this delicious stolen food with Sneasel does. Manm it's filling- and that's just the start of today's rewards. Today's a good day.]

[Wow the amount of money that can go into the place is mind boggling. Perhaps it'd be worth a shot finding the people behind this and "relieving" them of any owners' rights to the property and funds?

Well, observing is a must before one can start plotting potential takeovers. The rides and games are pretty noisy right now, so Archer will start his watch by the Ferris wheel. Kids with hats need not interrupt.]

[Not even if they're part of Team Rocket?

Well, uh, in some universe anyway. Ethan's undercover today -- that is, he's dressed like a normal civilian. Can't let anyone know he's in the Rockets before Lyra gives him the word. Besides, they still had some business to do!

And...... and that business totally had to do with the Ferris wheel! Totally! But, uh, he'd look pretty lonely if he went on alone, and he can't really risk letting Quilava out with him because she'd surely attract a lot of attention....

YO, SUPERIOR.]

[Sir who? From this kid? The lack of uniform doesn't help here, and Archer immediately looks displeased.]

Looks who decided to show up.

Make way! Comin' through! Watch it, pals!

[. . . is about all the warning anyone in the food area gets before some rude jerk with an Ambipom clinging to his back comes barreling past on a skateboard! He has a length of rope tied around a Typhlosion's back, and the large fire Pokemon is galloping down the road, pulling his trainer-on-a-skateboard along with him as he goes. The whole stunt looks rather dangerous. . . the trainer sways precariously along with the skateboard's movement, as though he'll go flying off of it at any moment. But even as the party dodges and weaves around any individuals in their path, they somehow manage to keep their balance]

Whoa, Ataro, you smell that? Popcorn booth comin' right up! Get ready!

[The Ambipom uses one of his two tail-hands to salute his trainer's orders, while the other darts out quickly to snatch a bag of popcorn from the vendor as they pass by. The successful steal is met with a victorious "whoop" from the trainer]

Nice aim! Add it to the pile!

[And this pattern continues for a while, with the trainer barking loud orders to his Pokemon, the Typhlosion pulling the skateboard along, and the Ambipom snatching snacks from the booths. It's quite a rambunctious scene, but hey, it was a festival! In Gold's opinion, things were supposed to be loud and lively!]

[An the food was supposed to be delicious, too]

[...Is that Gold?

That's Gold.

Silver's standing in front of one of the food stands; he plays his part and snatches a bag of cotton candy from the vendor to hold out for Ataro to grab on their way through. Gotta help a bro out and all.]

[Ataro snatches the cotton candy out of Silver's hand, and the whole party zooms past him without stopping]

Thanks, Silver!

[Wait]

[Silver???]

[Gold does a doubletake, before he yanks on the rope attached to Explotaro's back]

-- whoa, whoa, stop the train!

[Almost immediately, the Typhlosion skids to a halt, and the trainer hops off of his board to spin around and face his friend with a wide grin. He should have known he'd run into him here.]

We always meet in the weirdest places, huh?

[She's not even surprised, man.

Where there's food and excitement, there's sure to be Gold -- though snatching said food like a kid in a candy store is... Okay, no, that's not too surprising either, but it hands down doesn't stop Crystal from waiting for the perfect moment to snatch up a handful of caramel-covered berries (thankfully on sticks) and yank them out of Ataro's reach.]

[Ataro lets out a noise of surprise as his tail hand grasps at thin air. Crystal you are not nearly as fun as Silver!1]

Hey! Hey!

[The caravan comes to a screeching halt, Gold just barely managing to avoid a collision with Explotaro as it does so]

We were gonna eat those, y'know!

[beatensoul]

[Ethan might be a member of Team Rocket!!!!



But he's also, you know, a kid. This eleven year old's waiting in line for the coaster, bouncing on his feet. He keeps looking at everything else, so he could totally be pulled away from the roller coaster, but it looks so cool...]

[hotboss]

[And if he sneaks around the lines and escapes out the back then no one will know he was ever around-

Oh, of all the people to run into.] Excuse me.

[Luckily, Ethan's never met the boss in person. Just rumors. But he was hoping to meet him real soon, if their plans all worked out...

He moves out of the way, smiling.] Oh, no problem, sir! Hey, have you been on the rollercoaster yet?
