NEW YEAR'S FESTIVAL

If you thought you've memorized every bit of the island so far, think again! Seemingly overnight, a huge festival has appeared in the plains, complete with vendors, games, contests, and of course, huge rides to scream your lungs out. Grab your friends and have a fun start to the new year! •Bobbing for apricorns and games - Try your luck at snatching a fresh apricorn and win a pokeball version for your efforts! The water's pretty icy at this time, so you might want to find a way to warm your face afterwards. There's also ring toss, Squirtle gun range, and a strange fishing game where you only ever seem to fish out Magikarp for 500 poke a try. Win big to earn plushies and masks of your favorite Pokemon! •Haunted house - It's a place brimming with Gastlys and Gengars eager to pop out of the walls and scare the living daylights out of you. Enter if you dare! •Ferris wheel - Take a break in the Ferris wheel and get a full view of the carnival. Also a fine place to pick up bizarre dates if you're desperate to kiss someone at midnight. •Food and fortune - Cotton candy, popcorn, caramel-covered berries, and everything else to get your weekly intake of salt and sugar. Stop by the vendors for a range of carnival cuisine from all the regions, then check out the Alakazam fortune teller on the way out to get your new year's fortune. Too bad his fortunes seem to read like bad fortune cookies. •Tunnel of Luvdisc - Need a private moment? Hop into a boat and cruise along the Tunnel of Luvdisc with your darling, together with the lights down low...and a river packed with energetic Luvdisc who seem eager to splash water and sometimes flip onto the boat. Just shove them back if one lands in your lap. •Gyarados roller coaster - It's the highlight of the festival! This towering coaster has all the terrifying drops and turns you want in a roller coaster, but with a tacky-looking Gyarados car as the ride. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's a ride for the younger kids, though. There's a lot more to see than what's listed here - list your own event too!

Did you stop? [Red, the no-effort insulter on the planet. He folds his arms.] It's got to be more fun than standing here.

So go knock yourself out with that. [Green will totally stand here and wait for all those dates that are bound to spring upon him aaaaany second now.]

Sure. [Rightful ownership of the lolly is now given to Pikachu once more. Red takes a step back, nodding and lifting up a hand.] See you.

[He's not even going to dignify that with a response! Huffing and shoving his hands in his jacket pockets is the cooler thing to do.

Naturally he'll feel pretty silly for that a short time later, when he finds Red in the games section, alone and still very much dateless. People here clearly have no taste.]

[Red might've tried to make Green come along before, but he knew that it would've likely not been very effective. Green did what Green wanted, always and forever.

But when Red sees him later, no worry, poor soul; there will be no judging told you so looks. He's not at the shooting range, but eyeing the ring tossing game that's currently being played. Well, eyeing until Green comes along, of course. Pikachu is nowhere in sight.]

Yo. [Right back at you.] How did it go?

[Innocent question. Mayybbbe Green met somebody possibly despite being alone right now??]

Fine. Nothing too special. [Hopefully that is a good enough summary without having to go into too many depressing details.] Bachelor life is more fun anyway.

[Say no more. He thinks for a moment, then smiles.]

If you get all your tosses on the farthest target- [Pointing to the stall] -you get a moon stone.

Think you can win it from me?

[Do you hear a challenge.]

Is that even a question? [Wow it's just ring toss not trying to find your way out of Dark Cave.]

[Real winners let the exits find them. Or something.]

We can have a practice round- you know, if you need to warm up.

[Who knows the targets probably move or something ridiculous like that, maybe Red should not make it so tempting for Green to say no. Yet he cannot help himself.]

Green needs no beginner's concepts like warming up! He slaps some pokedollars on the game counter.] You're on!

[Oh look, two big kids can't resist being dumb. Red steps to the table as well and puts down some money, shooting Green a look. One on one? One on one. Totally allowed, if the fact that they're both being supplied with rings says anything.]

[And Green is totally going to throw his rings first because beauty before...whatever the saying is.]

Let me show you how to do it first, yeah? 'Cause I'm nice like that.

[Red scoffs. Of course Green goes first, just like he did against the Elite Four. Oh. The next turn his, Red hits his ring on the target with Green's.

Too early for excitement yet.]

[...Huh. Red totally only got that because he watched Green's technique! He'll throw his second ring for another flawless hit on the target.]

[1stgen]

[Green's naturally good talents must be bouncing off of Red then, the second ring being a successful hit for him as well.]

[Third and final ring, this is it! Green rubs it between his palms for good luck and throws and it lands!

And by lands he means it bounces off the target, flies up, then lands on the grassy floor with another bounce.]

[The result of Green's ring surprises Red, but he doesn't let it affect him beyond a flinch. The rings are building up, so does mean less room for a ring to land and stay...

Game just got a thousand times more real. Red concentrates before he throws, and it lands, but wobbles, dramatically lengthening the suspense....!!


IS IT GONNA STAY, IS IT GONNA STAY...


IT STOPS.]

[And then proceeds to fall off anyway.]

[...Well then! Green can accept being even for once. It's a vast improvement considering his other duels with Red.] Sucks.

[1stgen]

[Sorry, didn't even hear that over the shock of how absolutely awful that was. Why. Why. At least they're both eligible for the prize of a mask since they got two on the last one.

Red will at least swap to a pout frowning flat face when he points one out for himself.] That one.

[Ninetails mask. Death to all rings.]

Let's try another game.

Uh, I'm fine. [Green waves his hand at the booth owner trying to give him a prize mask as well. He doesn't need a physical sign of his failure to walk around with (Red does that part already har har).]

What, feeling competitive?

[It feels like a burn on the both of them, somehow.......

And he kinda is feelin' competitive still, but.]

Did you want to do something else?

I already had my fun. [Tunnel of Luvdisc takes a lot of energy, you know. He looks over to the food stalls.] I'll probably just grab something to eat.

[1stgen]

[If only Red knew how much fun being hot and popular and wanted was. He thinks about his options. Then- why not.]

I'll get a drink. I only had that candy since I came here.

[It's not easy being Green!]

You're gonna be bouncing on the walls from all the sugar. [Green will be vaguely more healthy and get caramel popcorn for himself. Good enough.]
