NEW YEAR'S FESTIVAL

If you thought you've memorized every bit of the island so far, think again! Seemingly overnight, a huge festival has appeared in the plains, complete with vendors, games, contests, and of course, huge rides to scream your lungs out. Grab your friends and have a fun start to the new year!

•Bobbing for apricorns and games - Try your luck at snatching a fresh apricorn and win a pokeball version for your efforts! The water's pretty icy at this time, so you might want to find a way to warm your face afterwards. There's also ring toss, Squirtle gun range, and a strange fishing game where you only ever seem to fish out Magikarp for 500 poke a try. Win big to earn plushies and masks of your favorite Pokemon!

•Haunted house - It's a place brimming with Gastlys and Gengars eager to pop out of the walls and scare the living daylights out of you. Enter if you dare!

•Ferris wheel - Take a break in the Ferris wheel and get a full view of the carnival. Also a fine place to pick up bizarre dates if you're desperate to kiss someone at midnight.

•Food and fortune - Cotton candy, popcorn, caramel-covered berries, and everything else to get your weekly intake of salt and sugar. Stop by the vendors for a range of carnival cuisine from all the regions, then check out the Alakazam fortune teller on the way out to get your new year's fortune. Too bad his fortunes seem to read like bad fortune cookies.

•Tunnel of Luvdisc - Need a private moment? Hop into a boat and cruise along the Tunnel of Luvdisc with your darling, together with the lights down low...and a river packed with energetic Luvdisc who seem eager to splash water and sometimes flip onto the boat. Just shove them back if one lands in your lap.

•Gyarados roller coaster - It's the highlight of the festival! This towering coaster has all the terrifying drops and turns you want in a roller coaster, but with a tacky-looking Gyarados car as the ride. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's a ride for the younger kids, though.

[Green's naturally good talents must be bouncing off of Red then, the second ring being a successful hit for him as well.]

[Third and final ring, this is it! Green rubs it between his palms for good luck and throws and it lands!

And by lands he means it bounces off the target, flies up, then lands on the grassy floor with another bounce.]

[The result of Green's ring surprises Red, but he doesn't let it affect him beyond a flinch. The rings are building up, so does mean less room for a ring to land and stay...

Game just got a thousand times more real. Red concentrates before he throws, and it lands, but wobbles, dramatically lengthening the suspense....!!

IS IT GONNA STAY, IS IT GONNA STAY...

IT STOPS.]

[And then proceeds to fall off anyway.]

[...Well then! Green can accept being even for once. It's a vast improvement considering his other duels with Red.] Sucks.

[Sorry, didn't even hear that over the shock of how absolutely awful that was. Why. Why. At least they're both eligible for the prize of a mask since they got two on the last one.

Red will at least swap to a ~~pout~~ ~~frowning~~ flat face when he points one out for himself.] That one.

[Ninetails mask. Death to all rings.]

Let's try another game.

Uh, I'm fine. [Green waves his hand at the booth owner trying to give him a prize mask as well. He doesn't need a physical sign of his failure to walk around with (Red does that part already har har).]

What, feeling competitive?

[It feels like a burn on the both of them, somehow.......

And he kinda is feelin' competitive still, but.]

Did you want to do something else?

I already had my fun. [Tunnel of Luvdisc takes a lot of energy, you know. He looks over to the food stalls.] I'll probably just grab something to eat.

[If only Red knew how much fun being hot and popular and wanted was. He thinks about his options. Then- why not.]

I'll get a drink. I only had that candy since I came here.

[It's not easy being Green!]

You're gonna be bouncing on the walls from all the sugar. [Green will be vaguely more healthy and get caramel popcorn for himself. Good enough.]

[Hah.] That's going to be Pikachu if he finishes it.

[Because a sugar rushed electrical mouse sounds like a good idea. Anyway, getting a soda is not going to solve the sweet taste in Red's mouth. He decides on a tea and takes a seat at one of the tables near the food cart he gets it from, blowing on it once taking off the lid.]

That's not funny. [Can we not talk about the vicious yellow rat when it's so peaceful and quiet right now, thanks.]

So where are you headed to next? [Not that he cares or anything, really, but if Red mentions going back into a blizzard Green might just throw his popcorn and leave.]

[It was a joke?? Why hatin' on the cute powerhouse, Green. But Red will leave that alone, and instead consider the question. And end up shrugging.]

Don't know. [He tries for a drink of the tea, but it's just a sip.] Heard of anywhere interesting?

There's a Ferris wheel and roller coaster. The usual carnival stuff. [That is, if Red ever visits a carnival often enough to know what they typically have.]

[For a second he's lost, but then Red realises he misinterpreted the question. He laughs at himself a little under his breath. Whoops. Oh well.]

How about the roller coaster? Have you ever been on one?

Uh, yeah. [Like duh Green is #1 thrill chaser here.] Have you?

No. [Pause.] Neither.

[Are Ferris wheels thrilling???]

[He's not riding in some sappy wheel with this kid. Roller coaster it is!]

I dunno if you can handle the coaster. It can get pretty wild.

[Hah.] I'll give it a go. [He raises his cup.] After this.

Are you sure? [Because eating or drinking that much before going on a crazy twisty coaster will wait what is he saying.] Er, yeah, drink up.

[....was that a continued joke or scheming. Red can't tell, but you know, he doesn't want to risk it. Also, he is getting reminders of an unfortunate charizard ride.

So he only takes a sip before he puts down the cup and stands up.] Actually, I'm okay.

[It's not great tea anyway.]

[Aw lame, potential plot of getting Red sick on the coaster is ruined. Oh well, hopefully he'll just scream like a sissy. But probably not.]

Suit yourself. Let's get in line.

[Sorry, no fond memories of this carnifestival for Green. Red observes the roller coaster's track once they join in with the queue, seeing it plenty of times during his wander around but this being finally the time he'd be going on it. How exciting. How new.

Thankfully they were able to slip in while the line wasn't too bad, and hopefully they won't have to wait for long. But while they're standing there...!]

What are you going to do afterwards?

[Green waves his hand to the attendant to ask for front row seats when they get to the entrance. A champ like him deserves the best seats in the house!]

Probably take Eevee for a run and grab dinner somewhere. Why? [Red is not invited to this let's be clear right now.]
