[Instead of wandering around and exploring the farthest reaches of the island, Silver... is wandering more out in the open. Accompanying him is his Weavile!

And some Sneasels.

...No, not just some Sneasels.

Many Sneasels. Dozens of them (and a few other Weavile!) Some of them are even hitching a ride on his shoulders or head.

Despite the abundant company, he looks casual and approachable enough. ...Or, you know. You could ask about the Sneasels. Maybe one will follow you home!

[-That's Sapphire. She sounds a little different, but it's definitely...

-But she asked a question. It's rude to just stare.]

Not exactly. They just decided to tag along for a while. [Just because. Plenty of them are eager to greet May, however. A couple of the braver ones aren't afraid to get right up and close and say hello.]

[ Well, for one she is as restless as Sapphire, but she has a more modern (neater..) touch regarding her outfit and overall appearance, using a lot of hand movements and talking rather quickly. ]

Huh. You must have a really weird smell to attract these many sneasels.

[ Offers a hand to pet the sneasels? Can I? ]

[His smell. ...Maybe they aren't so different.] This guy's my partner. He attracted them more than me.

[He gestures to the Weavile closest to him who puffs his chest out in pride. Damn right. Partners with the best trainer ever.

The Sneasels consider it for a while and look back at Silver, his Weavile, and some of the older ones in their group before letting May pet them. Sure! She seems friendly enough.]

[ Yesss petting-- which stops midway when she notices the difference between these sneasels and the one on Silver's shoulder. ]

No way, sneasels evolved!?

[ May immediately stands up and circles around Silver to get a better look at Weavile, standing on her tiptoes. Luckily for Silver, she still keeps enough distance from him, so his personal space is safe. ]

That's so cool, how do they level up? I gotta train my sneasel too.

[She's. She's super excited. Silver's got a bit more of a tolerance for the enthusiasm by now, but it still takes a moment for him to adjust. Of course, Weavile are cool, so he can't really blame her, can he?

...You know what? Maybe he can help. He digs through his pockets before finally pulling out... a claw. A very sharp claw! He handles it delicately but makes sure to show it to her.]

This is a razor claw. Give this to your Sneasel and train with it at night. [Although he didn't expect her to have a Sneasel. Hoenn's pretty hot, isn't it? Then again, there's probably somewhere that isn't too bad...] Is your Sneasel with you? I bet they'd like the company.

[ She was getting more and more excited and about to take the claw from Silver when-- ]

...Oh no. I put her in my PC.

No problem. There's a Pokémon Center that has one not too far from here. [Some of the Sneasel don't know what a Pokémon Center is, but the others quickly explain it. It's this cool big magical building that trainer's Pokémon go to be healed!]

Oh! Okay, cool. Thanks for this.. claw then!

[ She observes the claw after taking it, then plays with it, bobbing it up and down. ]

Sorry for being way too excited, I've never seen this many sneasels-- Hey, what's your name?

[ ...Aaand there she goes jumping from one topic to another again! Well, even if May was Johto born, she's never gone anywhere beyond Goldenrod. So a herd of sneasels like this excite her, and she got hers via trading with some random kid from Johto or Kanto or something. ]

[-Be careful with that. It's pretty sharp.

But he's not gonna fuss.] It's okay. I'm Silver.

[Uh-] What about you?

I'm May, hello!

[ Pause. ]

What are you gonna do with all of the sneasel? You said they're following you, right?

Yeah. [Despite that, he seems pretty comfortable- maybe he's used to it, maybe he's rolling with it.] They can come and go whenever they want.

Ooh, you must really like sneasel huh?

[ Points at Weavile ]

And what's their evolution called?

Weavile. They communicate as a huge network by clawing on trees.

[It is the coolest.] It might sound weird, but they're kind of like family to me.

Aww, that's so sweet. How long have you been with him?

I sorta feel like that with Blaziken too. We fight a lot! [ After she realizes how weird that sounds, she quickly adds: ] You know, like siblings! Hahahahaha.

We've been partners since I was a baby. [Yeah.] I get it. You've got a Blaziken, huh? [Sapph has a Blaziken too. Guess some things don't change.

But he shouldn't compare her and May. They're their own people...]

[ Completely ignoring Silver's notion of her Blaziken. ]

-Wait, Baby!? Whoa... And to think I met Blaziken only two years ago... No wonder they're like family.

[ May, you just said that out loud. ]

So I guess you're from Johto, huh?

[Only two years ago. ...Two years is still a long time. Hell, you can become close to your Pokémon in weeks, or even sooner. His weird frog thing- he should really figure out what it is- already feels like a member of the family...]

You got it. [Born in Kanto, but. That's not an important detail.] Ever been there?

[ It is quite a long time! And they've saved Hoenn and all, but compared to Silver. It's...short. ]

Oh oh! I'm actually from Johto too! But then we moved to Hoenn because dad became a gym leader and all- but that's not important!! What city are you from? I'm from Goldenrod!

[...Uh.] I don't have a home. I sort of just wander around.

[Yeah let's not dwell on that-] Your dad's a gym leader?

[ Thankfully for Silver, May either noticed Silver's discomfort or she's just easily distracted. Probably the latter. ]

Yep, Norman of Petalburg City. Ever heard of him?

I think in passing. What type's his specialty?

Normal. And I know people think it can be boring, but believe me, he's really strong. Pretty cool, right?

Normal types are super strong and versatile. [He's got an Ursaring. He knows just how devastating they can be.] I bet he's pretty cool.

Are you challenging the Johto league, Silver? Your Weavile looks really strong..
