[A Pokémon! Something that most people have to wait for, something that people prepare their whole lives for. Others kids are lucky enough to have one as a pet in their home, one that belongs to the parents or guardians.

But, like everyone that came to the island, this young red-head got his own choice of three Pokémon! And he picked one, very easily he picked one. A Nidoran♂!]

Dad's gonna be so surprised! I'll make you super strong and super fast!

[He's so excited, tugging on the Pokémon's ears. The Nidoran doesn't seem to mind!]

Father wrote a book?

Uh-huh. [Here, he'll even pull it out! It's called "Secrets of the Land".] It's amazing. There's all kinds of stuff about ground types that I couldn't have dreamed of learning in years on my own.

I wanna read it! Please?

[feistytrader]

Yeah. It means too much to me to let you run off with it, but I don't mind sticking with you while you read.

[Since it's you know, his dad's book. All he has of his dad, really. ...Maybe his dad will show up...]

Awesome! Does it have illustrations?

[feistytrader]

It's got a few sketches, but it's mostly just words. Some of it's hard to understand too, so if you need any help, I can tell you all about it.

[He's uh. Got the whole thing memorized...]

[Gimme gimme! He takes the book and plops down into the sand to start reading it. He's actually quite a diligent studier!]

[...He's gonna be there for a while.] You want a piggyback ride? I can take us to find something to eat while you read.

Oh! Yeah! I want a hamburger. Or udon. What does a Nidoran eat?

Plants and berries, I think. He'll probably be happy with whatever you give him, though.

Okay. Let's go eat, then!

[He is totally all for this being carried around thing, he loves that so much.]

[In that case he is hoisting him up (wow you're like lighter than Weavile this is real easy) and they are going off in search of food!

...That they will probably steal because he barely has any money.

Surely he has enough money to teach this kid good habits. ...Maybe.]

[The idea that money is an issue is literally nonexistant to the toddler...]

[Good. Kids shouldn't have to worry about stuff like money.

...Well, he has enough money for food for the kid...

...That's gonna have to do.]

[Doop doop diligently reading! He stops after a while.]

I don't get it. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

[feistytrader]

[He was wondering when that would happen.]

It's hard to decipher. I learn something new every time I read it. I think it's supposed to be that way, though. That makes it a challenge.
