[He's tense because he just released a vicious Liepard from its pokeball and from quite the distance as well. The Liepard makes no hesitation to bristle and hiss at him. ]
Liepard.
[He tries to remain firm, but his voice doesn't have much leverage to it. A bond to this Liepard and with great pain. The Liepard growls while kicking sand at him. Reflexively he covers his face, but he known this Liepard and thus knows how she works. While covering his face he dives away from a Night slash attack. Liepard meant business with an increased critical hit move. Thankful for his own training, he was able to roll through the sand and back up to his feet. Air is still a little cloudy, but he can feel the cat pokemon leaping for him again. Another roll and he has a grip on the pokeball, but he doesn't return the pokemon.]
Liepard, please! I'm sorry I was too weak before!
[Leverage gone; his voice shakes. It isn't loud enough for a powerful yell. It might look like incompetence but it's far from a common trainer problem.]

His "father" didn't just fuck with pokemon.

One I knew was driven crazy by the abuse. I don't know what happened to yours... but it might explain why someone who originally loved pokemon more than humans ended up abandoning one.

You're not blaming your pokemon for being hurt, are you? It's kind of the same with him. He got better in this case because someone reached to him and took the time to help him heal. The other one I talked about... I tried but I was too late. He had been lied to, abused since childhood, raised without love, then sent on a wild goose chase of a mission, and when he did his best to do it to try and get some affection and approval from the one who acted as both family member and master, he was betrayed and abandoned. And he broke down, and lashed out at those who hurt him, and eventually died.

And those who're not stupid are power-hungry hypocrites.

I'm not going to antagonize the N here. But if that Zorua was left behind, there's a lot of others probably left behind too. Liepard...she's been hurt in more than one way. They treat Pokemon like objects, and people like obstacles and props... He is the "fruit" yeah, and that makes him dangerous even now.

But it's making him mellow even more towards you]
... yeah I get that. Whether it's someone's fault or not doesn't mean you don't have to stop them if they're dangerous. I know.
