[...who isn't experiencing culture shock as much as he is the total immense joy of being able to play with his Pokémon. He's got an interesting crew out with him (a Typhlosion, a Clefable, a Wigglytuff, a Bellossom, a Smeargle, and an Abra), and he's cuddling with them, as one is prone to do when one has never had the chance or thought of Pokémon being real.

(Well. He thought so, when he was like, eight or something? But he was a kid, and it hadn't been real. But these Pokémon -- they were! And his team from his Soul Silver game had been brought to life, just like that!!)

To the undiscerning eye, it might look like he's asleep. But he definitely isn't. Totally. 100% awake here. Really!! Just go over and see for yourself, he's seriously awake. It's not like he's his Abra or something, guys, hahaha, who the heck falls asleep in random places right --]

That'd be the only place I'd get high points, but everyone's been told that story since we were kids. So it probably wouldn't matter. [Haha.] How about you? If you went to school, or anything like that. My friends and I were pretty much homeschooled by my mom and dad.

I usually get pretty average scores. [Unless it's something one of his animes has touched on before -- but he doesn't go the way of historical fiction that often. Magical girls and shoujos though!] My teachers said if I didn't daydream so much, I'd probably be above-average or better, but I'm just not interested enough in what they're teaching to try.

What's your cup of tea?

Poké-- [Wait, duh, of course it'd be -- there's not an extraordinary amount of people who aren't into it here, though they do exist.] Games and anime, I guess. Uh -- cartoons, and things like that. I like a lot of idol groups too, but I've never had the chance to go see any concerts.

[powerfulwarrior]

I'm more of an outdoor person myself, so I like traveling and hiking... But I don't mind games and stuff. In Unova, we've got a lot of amateur musicians, but idols groups just aren't something you find there like in the faraway regions.

[A kind of longing sigh. They're really cute.]

I wish some of my CDs had come with me. I'd let you listen to them. [Even if Hilbert wouldn't be able to understand them. The songs themselves were really bouncy and go-getting.] I think the only time Mom and I go hiking is when we have to hike up the stairs for some of the older shrines.

Thanks. Music's definitely something we've got common ground in. [Still, that sucks they only go hiking then. Twist Mountain was a serious treat for Hilbert!] Shrines though, huh... It might seem a little weird, since Unova's not where you'd expect to find something like that, but we've got a shrine too. To Landorus, the God of the Fields. He's supposed to keep Thunderus and Tornadus in check since they like playing tricks on people and fighting. What're yours for?

Just to pray for protection. [Hibiki tilts his head.] And other things. You hang emas up with your wishes, and you give money as an offering so that the shrine's god'll hopefully make your wish come true. It doesn't always work though. They sell charms too, like for good health and love and things like that, and they work double if someone else buys it and gives it to you.

[Probably explains why all his good luck charms for superior grades don't work for him, but do wonders for the people he ends up passing them onto.]

That sounds like a lot of fun. The people who live around the Abundant Shrine - that's what it's called - give offerings to Landorus too, to keep their fields fertile and their crops strong. But I think the big guy is usually too busy living in the clouds to notice. Have any of your wishes come true before?

[shirimasen]

Nope. [And the charms rarely work.] Aside from the usual "I hope Mom and I stay healthy for coming year" that we say every New Year's.

[Oh, that's too bad. Hilbert smiles apologetically at Hibiki's bad time with wishes and...

Ah! That's a good question.]

[A dream?]

It's already come true. [Simple!! His dream was that Pokémon'd be real... or that he'd be able to go to the Pokémon world. Whichever came first.] What about you, Hilbert-san?
