[...who isn't experiencing culture shock as much as he is the total immense joy of being able to play with his Pokémon. He's got an interesting crew out with him (a Typhlosion, a Clefable, a Wigglytuff, a Bellossom, a Smeargle, and an Abra), and he's cuddling with them, as one is prone to do when one has never had the chance or thought of Pokémon being real.

(Well. He thought so, when he was like, eight or something? But he was a kid, and it hadn't been real. But these Pokémon -- they were! And his team from his Soul Silver game had been brought to life, just like that!!)

To the undiscerning eye, it might look like he's asleep. But he definitely isn't. Totally. 100% awake here. Really!! Just go over and see for yourself, he's seriously awake. It's not like he's his Abra or something, guys, hahaha, who the heck falls asleep in random places right --]

Yeah, he's mine. Sorry if he was bothering you. [She clicks her tongue and the Umbreon trots back over, somewhat reluctantly.]

He's a bit too curious for his own good. You've got some cute friends there, yourself. [She'll just plop down nearby, Vee curling up by her side.]

[None of his Pokémon are overly curious - though his mischievous Wigglytuff comes really, really close.]

It's fine, and thank you. [None of them are the type to resist being called cute either!! It's a blessing.] You said his name was Vee, right? That's pretty cute, compared to mine.

It's not very creative, honestly... "Vee" coming from "Eevee" and all. [She chuckles a bit sheepishly.] Oh, speaking of names, mine's Alessa. What's yours?

[...but it's cute, and that's what matters.]

Kiyosumi Hibiki [BUT that's a mouthful -- his last name really is -- and his name's just weird, period, honestly] but my classmates and... pretty much everyone who isn't Silver-kun or my mom calls me Hibichi. It's nice to meet you, Alessa-chan!

It's nice to meet you, too, Hibichi! What about your friends?

[It seems Vee's dozed off in the meantime. Humans are boring and when they start talking it seems like they take forever to stop. :T]

[shirimasen]

[That's because they do. :T Humans are so noisy.]

Well -- this little one here [the Abra, whom he'll be carefully putting back into his lap] is Cadachi-chan! The Bellossom is Kireihime-chan, Typhlosion is Bakudachi-kun... [...Dachible-san the Smeargle, Pidachi-kun the Clefable, Pukudachi-kun the Wigglytuff, and so on. He even gestures to them as he introduces them, though only Bakudachi and Cadachi give her a wave. The rest are perfectly fine pretending to be sleeping.]

My naming sense isn't really much better than yours, since it's just part of their name and a shortened form of "tomodachi"... but they seem happy with them!

I think it's cute. [She waves back to Bakudachi and Cadachi, then starts idly stroking Vee's side.] Guess it's only fair if you get to meet the rest of my team in that case, huh?

[shirimasen]

I'd like to, if you wouldn't mind! [Meeting new Pokémon - up close and personal, and not just a bunch of pixels - is pretty much the highlight of his life at this point.]

[firstgirlwins]

[She nods and lets out the rest of her team--her own Typhlosion, a Togetic, a Hitmontop, a Dragonite, and a shiny Raichu.]

This is everyone! [The Raichu immediately climbs into Alessa's lap, and doesn't seem too inclined to move. She just laughs and rubs the Electric-type's head.] My Typhlosion is named Quil, the Togetic is Toge, the Hitmontop is Rogue, the Dragonite is Tini, and Raichu here is Chu. [Quil and Tini wave, as Toge flutters over to get a closer look at Hibiki and all the other Pokémon, trilling happily.]

[Typhlosion buddies!!

And a shiny Raichu, how lucky. Gosh. He remembers back in Crystal, one have a chance of getting a shiny Pokémon from the Odd Egg... maybe it was something like that?]

It's -- [oh, Pokémon in his face. Togetic, the Happiness Pokémon. Super cute and super appreciated.] It's nice to meet you all! It's nice to see someone else picked Cyndaquil too -- a lot of people I knew picked Totodile, since it was strong, or Chikorita, because it was cute.

[firstgirlwins]

[She chuckles a little and Quil puffs up proudly.] Cyndaquil was the obvious choice for me. I wanted something that would be a little tougher than Chikorita, but Totodile had too many teeth for me to be comfortable with at the time.

[shirimasen]

[Honestly, he picked Cyndaquil to match the rest of his friends -- Silver had Totodile, Kotone had Chikorita, so he was the last piece of their trio.

...but Cyndaquil's his favorite, anyway, so it's no big deal.]

Too bad it's kind of hard to train... Not as hard as Chikorita, but still hard. [Bakudachi resents that claim!! ... But he'll take it, along with a soothing headrub.] I don't mind, of course, and Kotone-kun's Chikorita ended up evolving into a super powerful Meganium that even floors my time without any effort... Silver-kun's Feraligatr is a lot easier to beat, even though we're at a type disadvantage.

[Hmm.]

[She leans back, looking thoughtful, against Tini.] That's pretty impressive. Quil tends to struggle against my friend's Feraligatr, but we manage to pull through every time. Isn't that right, Quil? [The Typhlosion grunts in reply.]

[shirimasen]

[Well, Hibiki just has the advantage of being a bigger nerd and investing more time into status moves -- most people just go all-out with power moves, and his best friends don't tend to be the exception. Maybe one day they'd learn.]

That's proof of how strong your bond with your Typhlosion is, isn't it? [...or superior IVs, but stats. Stats! Even if Pokémon are just pixels back home, he trumpets about having a good bond with them -- ahaha.]

Absolutely! Quil and I are as close as can be. We've been through just about everything together since I started my journey!

And the most important thing you can do is form a strong bond with your friends, after all! [Toge circles around Hibiki and trills in agreement.]

[shirimasen]

[Heheh. Well -- he can do that now, for real this time..!! (He's kind of floored that his team's as cuddly to him as they are, but Pokémon are Pokémon.) He holds out his hand a little hesitantly towards Toge, since he'd like to pet it... but he's not sure if it's proper to just got ahead and pet people's Pokémon. Mom always said to ask before you did anything to someone's pet, so...]

You guys must be unstoppable then. Have you ever lost a battle?

[Toge doesn't seem to mind any, nudging Hibiki's hand happily.]

Mmn, a couple. I've been given a run for my money plenty of times, but the first battle I actually lost was to the Champion, Lance.

[shirimasen]

[Yess, he loves Togetic. They're so cute, and they become super awesome when they evolve into Togekiss. He rubs Toge's head gently, a grin beginning to show on his face.]

Champions always are. [Hibiki, unfortunately, was usually overleveled for battles -- grinding does wonders. Being from a place where it's just a game and not real life is just wonders. He hesitates to say it, but he'll let himself have a little pride.] I haven't lost once -- um, aside from in competitive battle circuits, or against Kotone-kun. When I was pla... um, on my journey, I didn't lose any battles or anything like that.

My friend... the one with the Feraligatr? He was usually the one who gave me my tougher battles. The only other battle I've lost... it was to this guy who hung around Mt. Silver... Red, I think his name was. Kind of a weird guy. Really quiet.

[shirimasen]

[Oh, the final boss of final bosses. Hibiki crinkles his nose at the thought.]

I never tried, since Kanto doesn't really interest me. The Pokémon do [as evidenced by his team!!] but ... I like Johto a lot better.
