At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

You're on! [He throws out the pokeball, releasing a totally cute and totally powerful Squirtle.]

[Red gives the Sylveon a pat on the head.]

[He pulls up a little note card...]

That's what it's called? [-Eon? Like an Eevee evolution?] Squirtle, water gun! [HE REALLY HOPES THIS THING ISN'T LEVEL 2 OR SOMETHING.]

[Well that sure is a move he's never seen before. At least both starters are level 5 like all starters have to be.]

[And naturally the Squirtle is a couple levels away from learning any water moves! Green pales when the cutie turtle gives him a confused look. At least Red's on the same level as him and - fairy type? Who the what-]

["Helping Hand"? That's not gonna help here. Red's glimpsing this Pokémon up and down - at least it has the higher base speed.]

[Oh yeah their first battle was repetitive and sucked.]

[And it sucked even more because it was the start of Green's many, many lost battles. Maybe if he just throws the Squirtle at Red's head and...

Nope, won't matter, because Squirtle's just not quite tough enough to stand up to an Eeveelution just yet. It lasts through quite a few moves, but soon goes down, along with Green's mood. Not again!!]

That's not what you're supposed to say after a battle! [GRR. He picks up the exhausted Squirtle and holds it against his chest as he fishes through his pockets for some berries.] ...Besides, something tells me Eevee might not get along with that.

[Red will play with the Pokémon's ears, the fox trilling in delight.]

Guess I'll study it for yer grandpa, then...

Go for it. I'm sure he'd love to talk to you. [It's okay, little turtle, have some berries and rest up.]
