At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

[Oh, he doesn't mind at all! In fact, Emmet looks quite happy to meet you, miss-Pokemon-who-can-talk. He'll kneel down so they can speak on the same level, and his new water type floats over too.]

Yes. I am Emmet. I know the names of a lot of Pokemon. She is a very pretty "Frillish".

[Well, good. She gives a smile, and reaches one of her ribbons to the Frillish - and holds out another for Emmet.]
I have not seen one before - they do not make Kalos their home. But, her smile is rather belle.
[Yeah - it's a Kalos thing, throwing in random French.]
Ah - but it is rude to speak without sharing our names. I am Penny, Sire Emmet, though my species is Sylveon.

She lives in Unova. So do I.

[Emmet smiles back! Though of course, he's always smiling. He'll gently take that ribbon for a handshake, while Frillish hesitates a moment before shyly holding a fin out. Don't worry, she doesn't have Curse Body]

[Because, now she looks around, this place isn't Kalos. Is it Unova?]

This was not my intended destination. But this is a fun place. So I do not mind.

[It's DEFINITELY not Unova, but oh well. There's plenty of strong trainers and cool Pokemon. Including talking ones, apparently.]
