Welcome/Welcome back, you crazy diamonds!
[An island! This is most certainly not where everyone was just a few moments ago. ...Alright, maybe some of you were on an island. Don't get cheeky.
At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.
Please choose one.
The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.
Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.
Now go forth, and into a world of Pokémon!]

He reaches for the middle one and presses the button, grinning delightedly as a small red bird pops out.]
Ah, how cute!
[He crouches down to examine the bird closely, smiling slightly. He doesn't seem like a very threatening villainous team member.]
I don't think I've seen any of your kind before. What are you?
[As if in answer, the bird chirps its name. Landry taps a finger to his chin in thought.]
Maybe I should name you Fletch? That seems kind of cliche. Hmm...
[Someone might want to keep him from naming the poor thing "Fletchy".]

a chance to be helpful??!
(wow what are you wearing but more importantly)]
That's a Pokemon from the Kalos region, called Fletchling. Even though it's common, it's really a very interesting species.
[Can you guess why? Go on, guess.]
no subject
The Kalos region? I've never heard of it.
[He tips his head slightly to the side, expression curious.]
Oh yeah? What do you know about it? Are you from Kalos?

no subject
[Man, what is up with all these new regions?]
Anyway, you said something about this bird being interesting. Why's that?

[He looks more excited than he's letting on though, grinning at the bird.]
Oh, it's nice to meet you. I'm Landry.

You're a Pokémon Professor, then? Like Birch?

His new floating tentacool-like friend, which he's named Kaykay, floats alongside of him as he makes his way over.]
Great, you guys are here too huh?
no subject
Are you with Team Aqua?
[All the subtlety of a sledgehammer...]
no subject
Yes I'm with Team Aqua. Why do you think I'm here?
[The subtlety of a sledgehammer, the tongue of a seviper.]
no subject
[Just excuse him while he gets totally defensive.]
And I don't even know why I'm here! Where the heck are we?
no subject
[He... actually doesn't know where they are, so he can't be smug here. Instead he just huffs out hot air, putting his hands on his hips.]
Well wherever we are, I'm not about to let you meddle with the sea here!
Kay Kay!
[YEAH YOU TELL HIM. Actually the Inkay has no idea what her new trainer is talking about BUT HE SOUNDS CONVINCING.]
no subject
[The uh, only problem with that is that uh... he doesn't have any orders right now... he was just supposed to be in the Slateport museum waiting for the Boss...]
no subject
[Says the pot to the kettle. Archie is missing as well. He has no plans; he just likes to talk a big game.]
no subject
[So they'll just sit here and try to insult each other forever! Sounds good.]
no subject
Hmm, a Fletchling? I've never heard of them. They must not be from Hoenn.
[She doesn't seem at all concerned about the Sandile cruising along behind her with only its eyes aboveground.]
no subject
[Landry turns to greet her and for a moment his expression shifts to confusion. He's definitely not used to seeing people running around in togas, but he dismisses it quickly enough and his expression returns to a more placated smile.]
You're also from Hoenn?
no subject
[Terra catches the expression change, but that's a nice recovery there. She chuckles and tosses her hair back.]
I am, yes. Call me Terra.

[Oh, good, he's polite and not radiating massive amounts of crazy-cultist. That's always good. She smiles and reaches down, and the Sandile obediently surfaces and lets her gather him up in her arms.]
Yes, I did. I don't recognize this little one, either - he's apparently called a Sandile.
no subject
[Ground-types are great! Not that Landry would know, he only has a Poochyena and now a bird.]
He's very cute! I wonder if he evolves into something bigger? But maybe he's powerful as he is now? It's kind of hard to tell.
[Landry you know nothing about Pokémon, shut up.]
no subject
[She scritches his head gently as he looks about as smug as a teeny-tiny crocodile can get. This is surprisingly so.]
I'm fairly certain he does evolve. He certainly seems like something that should, but one never knows, I suppose. He feels like he has potential, at least.
