At everyone's feet is a small note. It gives no description of their location or explanation, of course; it only says one simple thing.

Please choose one.

The note comes along with three Pokéballs with different "starter" Pokémon in them- the three Pokémon can be anything, from a Froakie, Charmander, and Treecko to a Rattata, Patrat, and Bidoof if you're particularly unlucky- and everything in between. If it's not a legendary Pokémon, it's fair game.

Of course, you can only pick one! Trying to go for a second will leave you thinking that you better not get too greedy. If you're one of those types that wouldn't care either way, the other two Pokéballs will simply disappear.

[Who's that Pokémon?

No, really. Brendan here wants to know. He's walking over with a notepad in hand, already knowing his Pokédex wouldn't be able to record it.]

Excuse me, mind if I take a moment of your time?

The excited coat guy pauses in the middle of holding his mouse aloft like it's the holy grail or something to turn and look at Brendan.]

Yes? Oh, yes. Take as many as you like. How can I help you?

I was wondering, can you tell me what that Pokémon is?

[That's right. That mouse-like one! He must know, his life depends upon it!

Okay not really, but it's sure an itch he wants to scratch.]

No, I cannot! I've never seen it before in my life. [And he sounds so very cheerful about this.] The only thing I'm able to tell you right now is that it is a very, very cute Electric type.

[He holds the little brown(?) Pokémon out so Brendan can get a closer look, though. It chitters happily and reaches its paws towards the boy.]

[He's not particularly put off by that cheerfulness. Brendan blinks, before subconsciously taking a step back. Seeing how it seemed friendly enough he gives a little smile.]

I can very well see that it's an electric mouse. Too bad my Pokédex can't tell us what its name is.

[Oh? When Brendan takes a step back, the coat guy stops holding his mouse out. He pulls it close under the pretense of checking it over again, putting some extra distance between it and the boy. Yeah, clearly some distant cousin of the Raichu family.]

Yes, that's too bad- oh, you have a Pokédex?

[Mentally, Brendan's relieved to have that distance but he won't say anything. It did seem like a friendly pokémon, though. How can he be so wary of something so...so cute?]
