Oh look, there's flower petals drifting on the breeze.

Lots and lots of them.

If you were to follow this baffling profusion of petals back to their source, you'd see...well, it appears to be a Lilligant and her trainer dancing together. They are surrounded by huge piles of petals, which a Sigilyph is telekinetically playing with, forming into spirals and swooping shapes in an airborne mimicry of the dancing partners below.

So! Now what do you do?

[In Rui's case? Be astounded at what she's witnessing. She's never seen those Pokemon before and the consistent flurry of petals gives everything an almost surreal edge.

Today has been a day for observation, it seems.]

Mako notices you out of the corner of her eye as she twirls around. She doesn't stop dancing immediately, but there's a definite slacking of the pace as she winds down. About a minute later, the dance has ended and Mako is catching her breath.

Have a wave hello! Because she's a bit too winded to actually say it quite yet.

[The wave is cheerfully returned, Rui deciding to come on over for a chat. She doesn't jump into anything as abruptly as somebody she knows all too well, yet she has that habit of inviting herself eventually.]

Hey! That was some amazing dancing there with your Pokemon! It even beats what I've seen back home.

Smile smile.

"Thanks! I'm Mako, this is Aeris, and that's Sigilyph."

Please excuse the bird-thing not having a name, she got it in a trade.

"Wow! Ganon, look!"
In this case, Cecilia's looking at the Pokemon - wow, she had never seen anything like them! Her Pignite either.

The Sigilyph notices the two of you, and...a Fire type near lots and lots of plant matter?

Bad idea.

It yanks two piles to the side, leaving an open space the bystanders can walk through safely, while the Lilligant and the trainer stop dancing to look over in your direction.

Mako smiles and waves. "Hi!"

[Oh, that's... pretty.

Don't mind if this guy and his Skuntank stare for a bit.]

She catches sight of you out of the corner of her eye as she's dancing and stops stock-still, tripping over her own feet.

Then the Lilligant trips over her.

She's too busy staring to notice.

[W-walking over... surely the fact that you tripped after looking at him was just a coincident, right?? Skuntank keeps its distance.]

...Are you okay?

Well, now that she's trying to stand up she notices the Lilligant on top of her. The Sigilyph lifts the two of them up and sets them down again, pokemon and trainer clearly used to it.

Have a wide-eyed Mako in your face, stranger.

"Is that your Skuntank?"

[Oh, good, they both look just fin-

soadfijas WHERE DID HIS PERSONAL SPACE GO. The stranger leans back a bit.]

Uh, yeah...?

[etranger]

Looking between you and the Skuntank, incidentally backing off a little.

"I am incredibly jealous right now."

[dokubutsuchuui]

[Phew. Slumping back down a bit, then. The Skuntank may be skittering back a step every time Mako looks back at it. Sigal blinks.]

I'm sorry?

[etranger]

Pause.

"...um."

BOLTING UPWARDS AND BACKING OFF.

"Ah! I'm sorry, I was being really rude, wasn't I? Um, uh..."

She dithers a bit before blurting something out in one breath.

"MynameisMakoit'sapleasuretomeetyouandI'msorryaboutthat!"

[Erika smiles a little as she finds the source of the petals. She's been busy exploring the new features of the island, and hasn't had the time to come and greet people yet.

There's a Tangela and a Bulbasaur padding along after her as she approaches; it's such a nice day she's let them out of their Pokeballs to walk with her. She pauses a little way off to just watch for a while.]

[ffff Taking a step back himself, and kind of fidgeting with his bag's strap a bit.]

Ah, no, it's okay, really. [um what was that. Ma...ko??] Um, I'm Sigal. It's nice to meet you...?

There are several signs that the trio has been doing this for a while, and a few minutes after you appear the two land-bound dancers start to speed up, working towards a climax of some kind.

The multiple piles of petals start to funnel upwards towards the rest of them before the mass breaks into several slender streams. There's a visible corona of Psychic energy building up around the Sigilyph, causing the air to warp around it as it concentrates. The streams of petals spiral around the two dancers as the Lilligant pirouettes towards the center of the impromptu dance floor.

The trainer spins away, striking a pose as the petals rise up into a great column, bearing the Lilligant aloft. As the pillar crests, the Lilligant releases one last burst of petals, scattering them to the four winds. As the pillar collapses, the trainer lies down next to the Lilligant in the resulting flower bed, while the Sigilyph roosts in a nearby tree.

"Great job, you two!"

Mako chuckles nervously.

"Uh, yeah...sorry about that."

Crouching down a little and wrapping her arms about her knees as she smiles up at you.

"My Dad has a Skuntank, so I've liked them ever since I was little, but I've never been able to find one of my own, so...I guess I lost my head a little when I saw yours."

At this point some clapping would be audible - Erika's applauding. They may not do Pokemon Contests in Kanto, but she knows a good performance when she sees one.

The Bulbasaur nibbles on one of the fallen petals contemplatively as Erika steps forward, smiling. "That was amazing. I've never seen a performance like that before. Oh, I hope I'm not intruding."

[etranger]

One hand flops back and forth listlessly.

"No worries. 'm Mako. Gimme a bit and I'll be able to stand up again."

Smile. Praise is a good thing!

[...He kneels down as well, since the height difference is kind of awkward.]

I... see. I know they're native to Sinnoh, but I've never actually met one aside from Fluffy, either.

[The Skuntank is still keeping its distance, but it shifts a little when it hears its nickname.]

Erika doesn't bother waiting for Mako to stand up again; she kneels down in the petals to get a bit closer to her level. "It's nice to meet you, Mako; my name is Erika. I'm not surprised you're exhausted after all that. I don't think I've seen either of your Pokemon before, either; where are you from?" In particular, of course, Lilligant has attracted her attention. This it what happens with elegant Grass-types.

The petals rustle a little as her Tangela waddles over after her. The Bulbasaur, which is rather young, is clambering its way over a heap of petals as best it can, grazing on them as it passes. Just because it doesn't need to eat doesn't mean it won't.

Nod.

"Yeah, that's where Dad got his."

[etranger]

Smile.

"Nuvema Town in Unova."

Indicating the pokemon.

"The one over there is a Sigilyph, and Aeris here is a Lilligant."
